MY FIRST VISIT TO THE U.S

My first visit to the U.S was a memorable one, I don't know why because I have visited other foreign countries like this before but this present one was special.

May be it was because of the way a snicked into this highly secured country scaling through the burden of securing  visa from the American embassy.

Or may be because I was given a free pass by the immigration officers, the drug law enforcement agencies and other related border patrol agencies.

The most surprising of it all was my been able to bypass the medical checks at a time when the presence of the deadly Ebola dieseas have been confirmed in Lagos and Rivers state, and Nigeria as one of the Ebola countries by the World Health Organization (WHO). This have gained dominance in the social network and other media outlet worldwide.

For a while I thought and said to myself " that is Nigeria for you, the U.S is different"

I boarded my flight and I arrived. I knew the journey from Nigeria to America is long and a lot of things happened on board that I can't even remember but I just knew that I arrived or is it we? because I can't recall seeing anyone else but my humble self. I think it's a private jet. On arrival I was shocked because nobody actually looked in my direction, not even a single officer of the U.S. I walked majestically out of the airport and at the entrance I saw a man in uniform, he was apparently assigned to pick me up.

What! Me a limousine! I tried to control myself as he opened the door, I sat behind him and entered, he ignited and drove on. " Do you care for a drink?" He asked "of course its been a long journey" I answered, he pressed a button and I have different wine, juice, water and of course alcohol, I was kind to take just water.

As we drove on I stole glances of the tall buildings of America as well as the beautiful trees, flowers, shopping malls etc as we were moving, I saw the white house from afar and at the gate l saw journalists numerous of them on arrival, they all rushed to me apparently they have being waiting for my arrival, one of the journalist was familiar, he worked with the Hausa service of the VOA, he is Umar Sa'id Tudunwada.

I decided to answer just few questions from them and he the VOA Hausa service man whom I quiet know as the General Manager of Freedom Radio in Kano asked me in Hausa " Me ya kawo ka fadar White House"? What brought you to the White House? I said " I thought you no longer worked with VOA and you are now in Freedom Radio, what brought you here too...? Before I added any further statement I heard another voice from afar this time it was an elderly female voice, and the voice sounded very familiar because it was just like my mothers! But my mum is not a journalist I said to myself, it continued Sa'eed.. Sa'eed.. Sa'eed... Wake up! The food is ready!
